Customer First – every time

EARLY CAREER REFLECTION

Josh Williams and I were chatting tonight about the early days of my working life (to call it a career might be somewhat overstating things).

But those first few jobs have absolutely shaped a belief in putting the customer first I still hold strongly today and which resonates in everything DataHawks stands for.

SELLING THE BENEFITS

I didn’t sell nice handbags, I sold confidence in a special outfit, which had to be perfect for a very special occasion.

I didn’t sell foaming trainer cleaner, I sold being able to keep those Reebok Classics box fresh for as long as possible (can you tell this was a 90’s job?).

I don’t sell marketing services, I sell putting your customer first because your data tells us so much about their behaviours, wants and needs – it would be absolutely criminal not to.

CUSTOMER FIRST

Yesterday someone messaged me to ask me how to approach their CRM strategy.

I told them to ask themselves, ‘does this comm put my customer or my business (or my bosses ego) first?’ If it’s not the first one every time, you’re doing it wrong.
